The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant, Associate, and/or Full Professor position in the tenure track. Responsibilities include development of a world-class research program that includes synergistic interactions with other basic, translational and clinical researchers in the Department of Psychiatry and other research programs within the University of Pennsylvania. Participation in the education mission of the department is also expected. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.
This position is for a new program in basic and translational behavioral neuroscience. The Department of Psychiatry is particularly interested in researchers using cutting-edge techniques and animal model behavioral paradigms to understand the neuronal mechanisms underlying psychosis, addiction, ingestive behavior/eating disorders, affective disorders, as well as diseases affecting learning and memory.
This new program brings together researchers working in diverse areas and different departments, but with a focus on causal circuit mechanisms involved in stress, mood, energy balance regulation, cognition, motivated behaviors, sleep, and more generally the neurobiological basis of complex behavior. Research in the program includes investigation of regulation of synaptic remodeling, circuit dysfunction and ultimately of the development of prognostic biomarkers and treatment targets through understanding the underlying pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric disorders.
We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense.
The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/Women/Individuals with disabilities/Protected Veterans are encouraged to apply.
