The Automation Engineer role within Radiology Research and Development (R&D) Lab Services will drive increasing department efficiency by automating tests and processes This includes, but is not limited to manual testing, data capture, test fixture creation/integration and automating repetitive tests. Key toolsets will include LabView, Rational Quality Manage(RQM), Visual Basic, and Embedded C. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, maintaining and leading implementation of the R&D lab services automation roadmap focused on medical devices used in Radiology. The primary responsibilities of the Engineer Automation are to:
Lead automation activities and initiative for the Research and Development (R&D) Lab Services Team responsible for medical device development;
Plan and manage work activities having significant technical scope with minimal direction and communicate comfortably at all levels of the organization;
Identify, design, validate and implement automation systems aimed at stream-lining test department activities and improving efficiency, in partnership with V&V Engineering;
Provide advice and mentoring to less experienced engineers or technicians;
Select electromechanical equipment, materials, components, or systems to meet testing requirements;
Select and use laboratory, operational, or diagnostic techniques or test equipment to assess electromechanical circuits, equipment, processes, systems, or subsystems;
Analyze engineering designs of logic or digital circuitry, motor controls, instrumentation, or data acquisition for implementation into new or existing automated testing designs.

Bachelor of Science degree in Electro-mechanical, Automation or similar Engineering discipline;
Minimum two (2) years’ experience working as an automation engineer;
Understanding and experience working with electro-mechanical systems;
Proven ability to use relevant knowledge across a breadth of technical disciplines and applicable technologies;
Proven ability in designing automation systems using Labview;
Proven ability in strong project management and technical writing skills;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in software development using Visual Basic, C, and C#;
Experience designing with and programming microprocessors;
Experience working in the medical device industry or other regulated industry.
