Atlas Research is seeking a Management Consultant to provide health care risk assessment and audit expertise in support to VHA Office of Internal Audit and Risk Assessment (IARA). This new office has a critical mission of standing up an internal audit capability to provide assurance that VHA is meeting its mission of providing care to our Veterans. We have an immediate opening for an experienced Healthcare Risk Manager that would engage directly with the client to stand up the organization and develop a clinical risk assessment / audit capability. This role would lead the development and implementation of a risk collection, analysis, scoring and prioritization processes and would also assist in developing clinical audit policies, procedures, and practices and would support the oversight of the teams that conduct the audits. This is an exciting and critical opportunity to have a major impact with a new and vital organization. The work will be conducted on client site in downtown Washington DC.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop clinical and operational risk assessment strategies and tools including risk assessment plans, risk registers, risk scoring and prioritization tools for use across VHA.
Assist IARA in maturing its risk assessment capability, initially collecting, compiling, analyzing, and scoring a wide variety of clinical and operational risks from known sources, e.g., GAO/OIG audit reports, OIG reported management challenges, GAO High Risk List, etc. but later developing a more proactive risk sensing capacity.
Work closely with IARA and other offices across VHA to communicate IARA’s mission, understand potential risk areas, and identify areas of collaboration for risk assessment
Assist IARA in maturing its clinical and operational internal audit capability by updating Audit SOPs, developing audit tools, supporting IARA’s coordination with contracted auditors.
Provide other PMO office standup up support as needed, e.g., planning, SOP development, communication planning and implementation, meeting support, etc.
6+ years experience supporting Federal Clients with risk assessment activities
6+ years of broad health care or VA experience
3+ years consulting experience in the areas of program/project management, transformation, change management, program management, or performance management
Demonstrated knowledge, experience and ability in the development of solutions, recommendations, or outcomes across multiple tasks and/or organizations
Experience conducting analysis and briefing analysis results to senior leaders.
Master’s Degree required
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
Ability to work in the US without sponsorship indefinitely.
Ability to deliver management consulting services to the federal government
Ability to be a self-starter and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Possession of excellent leadership, analysis, and data gathering skills
Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
