The Department of Anesthesiology at UTHealth McGovern Medical School is seeking applicants and nominations for the position of Division Director for Obstetric Anesthesia.
UT Health is located in the renowned Texas Medical Center in Houston. Our OB anesthesia faculty provide coverage at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center (MH-TMC), which is the primary teaching hospital for the McGovern Medical School. MH-TMC is a busy Level I trauma center, utilizing six helicopters for its busy Life Flight program, bringing to the hospital critically ill patients. MH-TMC is also home to a Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, which provides the highest level of NICU care available. All of these factors combine to bring a very busy and high acuity Obstetric service to MH-TMC. The hospital’s obstetricians perform approximately 5500 deliveries per year, with a high percentage of those being high-risk patients. Anesthesiology faculty also have the opportunity to supervise and teach residents at our large, well-known residency program.
The successful candidate will be an active clinician with an interest in academic medicine and education. He/she should have a record of leadership skills and demonstrate the ability to lead a rapidly growing division in a large academic department. The Director will help develop an OB fellowship program to advance the educational mission of UT Health. The position is open to those with the academic rank or experience commensurate with that of an Associate Professor or Professor.
