The NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist (NICU) functions as an integral member of the patient care leadership team by providing advanced level nursing care to the neonatal patient population by examining current practice, and designing, planning and operationalizing patient care programs. As an advanced practitioner, the CNS: has a client-based practice, provides prenatal and inpatient consultation, participates in identification of and educational needs related to neonatal care, uses research and quality improvement skills to identify and enhance quality of nursing practice, promotes dialog and problem solving around ethical concerns in the perinatal and neonatal areas, and serves as a patient advocate.
Master's Degree in Nursing
3-5 years in NICU setting
State of Wisconsin RN license
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Flexibility in responding to changing needs of the organization; demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving skills
Team leadership skills
Experience with adult learning and education
NRP Instructor/Regional Trainer
