This recruitment is for a full time Physician to work at the
Mena, Arkansas Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).
Mena is located in Northwest Arkansas near the Quachita National Forest as well as the Queen Wilhelmina State Park, two of the most beautiful parks in Arkansas. The area is surrounded by magnificent hills and scenery and is an outdoor paradise with hiking, golf, fishing, rafting, boating and four distinct seasons. Conveniently located near the Oklahoma border, Mena is within driving distance of several large cities in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
The Primary Care Physician will provide outpatient primary care treatment to Veterans with acute and chronic illness, with emphasis on preventative medicine. Evaluation and assessment of patients followed by evidence based treatment of patient's health care needs, in a Veteran centric, team-based model of care delivery. Routine coordination and collaboration with specialty care, mental health and other team members, is considered an essential component of this position in order to ensure optimum patient health and delivery of efficient care.
Incumbents for this position may apply for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) ONLY IF ALL of the following conditions are met:
· EDRP funds are available for a Full Time Appointment . · All eligibility factors, as shown in VHA Handbook 1021.01, are met. · Incumbent is within the first 6 months of permanent appointment or conversion to a permanent appointment. Submitting incomplete application packages or lack of EDRP funds does NOT extend the 6 month period.
A complete EDRP application package must be submitted to the EDRP Coordinator within 4 months of permanent appointment or conversion to a permanent appointment. There is no guarantee of receipt of any EDRP award and if awarded, the amount may be for a lesser amount than requested.
A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be offered to highly qualified candidates.
Provides primary care medicine to an assigned panel of adult male and female veterans where services are for diseases consistent with those seen in the general population, namely diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, COPD, mental health disorders and health disorders, among others. A primary focus of practice is on preventive medicine.
Participates in provision of Pain Management, Mental Health and End of Life Care to Veterans in the primary care setting as required.
Participates in the use of clinical practice guidelines, provision of standard of care to patents and meets relevant performance measures as mandated by Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
Surrogate for view alert coverage of other physicians/providers for patient care issues. This function with ensure that all labs, consults and other tests ordered by practitioners on leave are indeed reviewed for appropriate action or disposition.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
